Tea Ceremony
I love the excitement, fun and tradition that comes hand in hand with a Chinese wedding. For those who are not familiar with tea ceremonies, in a nutshell it's a way for the bride and groom to honor their families and for their relatives to extend words of love, advice and present red envelopes (normally known as 'ang pows') with jewellery or money to the couple. The festive day is normally decorated in red to bring good fortune and luck. Red signifies love, joy and prosperity.

Wedding Dais
Malay weddings have evolved over time from a traditional affair to a very much modernised one. More savvy brides are opting from extravagant over the top themes to elegant chic.
For those who are not familiar with the culture, the decorated wedding dais known as pelamin is one of the focal points of a Malay wedding. The bride and groom are treated like royals for the day (Raja Sehari) and the pelamin is their so called throne.
So, what does the couple do on the dais? Nothing much really. Basically, just sit there all demure looking pretty which we call bersanding. Like royalty basically. But in my case, I laughed like a hyena and was busy waving at friends instead of blushing like a shy bride. :P
Ending with an interesting dais pic created by a fellow wedding planner who's a relative.

Some of the things I realized when planning my own wedding were:-
- everyone has an opinion (take it with a pinch of salt, friends & family just love you to bits that they want to share their two cents)
- you will get into silly arguments with your fiance over something that you don't even remember why you're fighting in the first place
- whether you care to admit or not, you do momentarily turn into a 'bride-zilla' and drive everyone around you nuts
Meanwhile, spread the love people!! xoxo

Simply Natural: A Greener Way to Say I Do
Here's a great venue for couples who want to show their passion for the environment. Tanarimba at Janda Baik. The venue is really vast, reasonable rental and the ideas to decorate the place are endless. The pine tree trunk pillars really sets a grand ambiance not to mention the simple yet beautiful structure itself. Reminds me very much of the cabins on the mountains in Colorado, US. A few inspirations for budget brides who wants something fun and playful; instead of splurging on the usual floral centrepieces. Most are easy to create and quite the showstopper which will definitely reflect your individuality.
Books: For brides who love reading or a back to school wedding theme. For a more colouful feel, use chic lit books.

The Veil Unveiled
I have often wondered what's the symbolism or purpose of the bridal veil. Googled and found many different interpretations of the meaning of a veil, especially when it comes to weddings. Some of the meanings even changed over the years Here're sharing a few interesting ones and let you decide for yourselves.
- Ancient Greeks & Romans used brightly coloured veils that disguised the bride to protect her from evil curses and harmful spirits.
- A bride's veil is necessary for modesty especially among Muslim women.
- To show that a bride will be an obedient wife
- The veil represents the woman's transition from the pure, virginal state to the married state.
- Used as an adornment to enhance the beauty of the bride.
